What Are Dentures?

Personalized dentures are a tried-and-true approach for replacing lost teeth. These prosthetic appliances can make it more comfortable to speak and chew with self-assurance and will even improve the appeal of your smile following tooth loss. Our restorative dentistry team offers full and partial detachable and implant-supported dentures for people in Hudson Oaks, TX. Full dentures take the place of all of the teeth in the top arch, bottom arch, or both; however, partial dentures are used if a number of the patient's teeth are still intact in the jawbone. At Lush Dental & Implants, our team can help you learn whether removable or implant-supported dentures are ideal for your needs and have them custom-crafted to provide a nice look and secure fit. We also offer same-day dentures. Set up your restoration assessment with our dental experts to find out more.

Am I a Candidate for Dentures?

Good candidates for having dentures could be people who are missing multiple teeth or ought to have teeth extracted. Dentures function to enhance your dental function, enable you to eat healthy foods, and help keep your facial volume. These restorations work most effectively when the gums are in good condition, and there is an appropriate amount of jawbone for support. At your consultation, our dental practitioners will assess your dental wellness and talk about your possible options depending on your dental issues, cosmetic aims, and finances. From there, we will help you figure out if dentures are best for your needs and the kind that may efficiently suit your individual circumstances.

What Is the Denture Process?

Our staff will begin the process by making digital or physical impressions of the top and bottom arches. These impressions will then be sent to a highly advanced dental lab that will craft your customized dentures. Single-arch and partial dentures comprise lightweight resin, which may be supported by a metal inner structure. Made of high-quality substances, dentures are meant to mimic the appearance of natural teeth and gumline. As soon as your dentures are finished and arrive at Lush Dental & Implants, we will ask you to check in for a fitting. Our team will adjust your dentures so they fit snugly or attach them to previously positioned metal implants. Someone will also discuss the appropriate techniques to maintain your customized dentures.

The staff is wonderful and the dentist are even better! My denture's look amazing. Everyone that has seen them compliments them. They told me after I got the finished product, that if they needed adjusted at any time, to come back. I did that today and they fit perfectly! It feels wonderful to be able to eat with teeth after 12 years. It takes a while to get the dentures because they so several fittings to make sure they will be almost perfect when you get them. With the least amount of adjusting possible. But it is well worth the wait!! If you need any kind of dental work done, please consider them and give them a chance. Job well done folks!

The entire staff is very friendly, very clean and no pain extractions!!! Dr. Sheldrak O. made me feel very comfortable considering I was terrified to get all my teeth pulled, he had to cut a few teeth out and shave bone and made sure I felt no pain. He was very understanding when I went to get my dentures relined. His assistant was very friendly and also made me feel comfortable. My experience with Lush Dental has been awesome!!!

What will wearing dentures feel like?

Wearing dentures initially comes with an adjustment period. In the beginning, you might notice some discomfort and potential sore spots in your mouth, but these sensations typically diminish with time. You might also produce more saliva than usual during this adjustment phase.

What should I avoid doing after getting dentures?

After receiving your new dentures, there are a few important considerations to remember. One key aspect is selecting the appropriate oral hygiene products to maintain the cleanliness of your dentures and oral cavity. Dr. Okojie can provide recommendations and address any questions you may have during your consultation. Additionally, avoiding very hot liquids is advisable, as they can contribute to the wear and tear of your dentures' material.

How long is it recommended to wear dentures each day?

You can wear dentures for extended periods with proper care. To facilitate the adaptation process and minimize the likelihood of uncomfortable sore spots, it's suggested that you wear your new dentures for at least 8 hours a day initially. However, it's essential to remove your dentures at night and during your oral hygiene routine, which includes brushing and flossing.
